Your wellness innovation partner.

Constant iteration.

I have been doing innovation workshops and design sprints for international brands since 2005. With a focus on wellbeing outcomes, I have domain knowledge to advise founders on developing a unique positioning and product strategy during their sprints. I also work with ad hoc teams to serve select startup studios and innovation labs on remote design sprints that blend wellness expertise, behavioral insights and bio-centered design.

What we do

the sprints.

some work.

Non-linear, non-hierarchical and methodology agnostic, our process principally follows classic design thinking methods.

client:

Philips

project overview:

Worked with the Philips Electronic Toothbrush (ETB) team of 12 leaders from R&D, CMI and Marketing in a design sprint to go from consumer insights to concepts for their innovation pipeline. Along with their existing consumer and trend reports, we developed a Stimulus Gallery of related worlds to “cleaning care”, “oral health”, “holistic health” and “emerging tech” to help stretch insights to 8 innovative territories.

Our 1-week sprint produced over 100 ideas to filter down through business critical success factors and brand criteria to ~20 viable concepts for their short-to-mid-term development pipeline. Client took workshop materials to further develop end solutions with internal teams.

client:

J&J

project overview:

We designed a consumer and expert immersion that would help client stretch their thinking on how to approach new product design from an R&D perspective. Our research took us far and wide in discussions from beauty, to health, to medicine, sustainability, emerging tech, TCM, culture and environmental factors.

After distilling relevant “territories” for field work, we crafted strong insight platforms to help design several dozen starter concepts. These were then narrowed down into 20 exciting new product innovations for the R&D department to invest in development for the short-to-mid term. They were tested and validated through several focus groups before narrowing down to top twelve ideas.

client:

Durex

project overview:

Worked with a global insights agency on the East Asia leg of their Durex research by doing field work and deep dive interviews with experts including: a sexologist, sociology professor, sex toy manufacturer, brothel owner and several pairs of couples. The goal of this ethnographic research was to explore attitudes, preferences, lifestyle habits, values and world views to uncover new territories in the ‘world of sex’ that go beyond pleasure and into sexual well-being for design inspiration.

After several market safaris, industry research and deep dive interviews, our research team spent two weeks going through a sense-making process to uncover the relevant themes to report back to global to present the final deck that combined insights from USA, Europe, Brazil, India and Russia along with our research from China and Japan.

Weightlessness

project overview:

I first came across Weightlessness as a client of its founder, Tom Fazio, who was my personal trainer. After being exposed to his book and philosophy of mind-body peak performance, I embarked on a 5 - year journey of bringing it to life in steps. First by translating his philosophy into a system, then learning curriculum, then tribe training concept, and now an online academy training high performers worldwide. It’s still a very boutique business but has been a passion-based, bootstrapped project that continues to evolve (and where I continue to evolve having personally trained 6 times in 100-day tribes while coaching participants in parallel). I’ve put skin-in-the-game here (plus sweat, blood, tears) and am working on a somatic coaching system to differentiate this product from anything available in the fitness industry.

Positioned around the need to condition our human ability to adapt to stress, and cultivate sensitivity to help with recovery, Weightlessness is a one-of-a-kind system for not only healing but navigating uncertainty.

Pulse

project overview:

We worked with a private hotel owner on revamping one of his existing projects: a 60-room resort on the outskirts of Shanghai that was losing traction and in need of an upgrade. After creating concept directions with a dozen wellness specialists and KOLs, we decided to build a prototype based on leveraging the mother company’s clinical license for an upgraded “wellness body check” based on Traditional Chinese Medicine principles – the world’s first TCM Retreat.

Working closely with an architectural and brand team, we built out the design direction and concept boards to test on a site visit of 20 KOLs and experts to walk them through the space and get feedback on the prototyped experience to minimize risk and find focus areas for next phase budget allocation.

client:

Magna Steyr

project overview:

We worked with this large automotive engineering company to design a comprehensive wellness program and environments to cue new behavior. We identified three spaces in their large industrial facility to promote healthier habits everyday, while linking the built environment with manager schedules. We physically built out three spaces: a gym, juice bar, and wellness quiet space (for learning, meditation and naps) and designed an annual 2-day Vitality Program led by internal leaders to sustain healthy habits ongoing.

Taking 10 Vitality leaders through an 8-week training, we were then able to run a 2-Day event for 400 employees. This was all done on a build budget of only $50k and a lot of executive support for change.

PAI Health

project overview:

Worked with the Marketing Department, scientists and exercise physiologists to design a workshop blueprint for this insurtech solution. The client needed a blueprint for programs that would enable them to run engaging, impactful and educational workshops with their insurance clients and partners to inspire a movement of “measuring what matters” through PAI (a proprietary algorithm for wearables that detects cardiovascular fitness, linked to insurance wellness programs).

frequently asked questions

What is a “wellness innovation partner’?

We want to work closely with a handful of founding teams and startup studios to create exciting solutions in this space without the exorbitant fees innovation agencies would charge. By teaming up as your 'satellite partner', we can set up streamlined processes and productivity stacks to make async work more efficient. This allows you to cut out the excess fees involved in doing traditional design sprints. We are seeking select founders or labs to be co-founders of a next level wellness solution!

Do you only partner with startup studios?

Not necessarily. We are open to working with innovation agencies or brand clients if the brief falls within our wheelhouse. At the end of the day, it’s about delivering good work.

How do you charge for partner work?

We work on a simple monthly and quarterly retainer fee. To minimize the time and effort spent on proposals, scheduling and feedback meetings, we built a streamlined process of mostly async collaboration.

What about confidentiality?

We incorporate a simple contract with a standard confidentiality clause and NDA between two parties at signing. However, once the project is launched, we then have rights to showcase the project with your agreed consent.
