frequently asked questions.

What can I expect from our weekly sessions?

Before each weekly session, you’ll complete 1-2 hours worth of pre-work due 24 hours before the call. The coaching will revolve around a synthesis of these exercises to deepen clarity, unlock potential and refine your vision. The four weeks covers 6 different buckets: YOU / WHO / WHY / HOW / WHAT / WHEN

What if I’m not sure what my business idea is?

That’s what I’m here for! The sprint is designed to use specific creative thinking tools to help us think outside the box and design your business from the inside-out. You may come to the table with an already defined direction — some times this changes — you may come with zero clarity — and lightbulb moments will go off. Trust the process and the business idea always emerges because all the ingredients are on the table.

What if I end up changing my idea before the end?

That’s perfectly fine. These sprints are designed with you in the drivers seat, while I help clarify the destination and help navigate like your personal GPS. But you’re at the wheel. I’ve had people do two sprints back to back because they decided it was too important not to explore their new pivot; and I’ve had people change the format of an idea that stayed the same. Consider this the perfect place to do these experiments — hence we’re a“lab!”

What if I can’t afford to launch my business now?

Financial runway is a major consideration during these sprints and the assumption is that you are trying to build something on a shoestring budget (if at all) from scratch. My help is to get you from 0 to 0.9 as quickly as possible so that you don’t waste the most important resource: time.

What’s the time and energy commitment of this?

1-2 hours of pre-work each week along with a 60 minute coaching session at the minimum. The sprint is not designed as a typical coaching conversation, though insights will emerge from the experience. It’s more designed to move you forward each week to producing what needs to get done to launch. But again, you are in the driver's seat and will get out what you put in.

How is this different than having a business coach?

A business coach focuses mostly on the outer game: working with you as a seasoned professional in their domain to help strategize on a model, offer feedback, delegate tasks and create operating systems from a known idea. I work more on the inner game and the creative process of formulating a unique business idea that is designed specifically from your talents, skills and passions, while also offering the strategic advisory needed to move in the right direction.

Will this set me up better at the end than without it?

If you take the process seriously, show up to sessions, commit to the work, and are willing to be open and receptive to what’s possible — then it’ll be a game changer.

What is a “wellness innovation partner’?

We want to work closely with a handful of founding teams and startup studios to create exciting solutions in this space without the exorbitant fees innovation agencies would charge. By teaming up as your 'satellite partner', we can set up streamlined processes and productivity stacks to make async work more efficient. This allows you to cut out the excess fees involved in doing traditional design sprints. We are seeking select founders or labs to be co-founders of a next level wellness solution!

Do you only partner with startup studios?

Not necessarily. We are open to working with innovation agencies or brand clients if the brief falls within our wheelhouse. At the end of the day, it’s about delivering good work.

How do you charge for partner work?

We work on a simple monthly and quarterly retainer fee. To minimize the time and effort spent on proposals, scheduling and feedback meetings, we built a streamlined process of mostly async collaboration.

What about confidentiality?

We incorporate a simple contract with a standard confidentiality clause and NDA between two parties at signing. However, once the project is launched, we then have rights to showcase the project with your agreed consent.

How do you recruit for qualitative interviews?

We do interviews on your existing customers and experts within our shared networks. With domain expertise, it is one of the advantages of partnering with us to access these experts. However, for specific requirements on experts or users outside our network, we add a separate low recruitment fee of $300 per user and $800 per expert (does not include standard incentives).

Do you do statistical analysis on quantitative research?

No we don’t. We stick to our wheelhouse with qualitative immersions and fieldwork to search for clues.

What if we only want to engage with you on a portion of a project we’re doing internally?

Sure! That’s often where we come in really handy with some fresh perspectives. You can just chose one milestone instead of all three, or recruit us to do a deep dive series of interviews to refine your offering. Get in touch!

How can you do all that work at such a low rate?

We’ve cut out the excess steps: time arranging meetings, meetings themselves, aligning dozens of people, and perfected the simple, proven and scalable process of design thinking with a handful of focused freelancers. We don’t promise the moon, but focus on the key pieces that can make all the difference in creative problem solving: identifying unobvious needs, landing a compelling value proposition, and designing a unique solution that’s viable, feasible, desirable and sensible. Clients tend to hire several agencies to work on the same brief to expand optionality and increase the probability of finding something sticky. Consider us your affordable add-on wild card option!

Do you offer any discounts?

Nope. We think our rates are pretty fair!

How is output delivered?

All phases of the project are done on a Miro board until we reach the ‘final deliverable’ as a testable solution > synthesized output will then get transferred into a final deck (synthesis to final deck is considered a monthly completed task including review and feedback).

What if we need to revise the output or need to pause?

Within reason, we’ll incorporate your feedback and do that chunk of work over again without an additional fee (or we’ll pause your retainer until we move to the next phase).

How many people work at Untapped?

It’s me plus a handful of dedicated freelancers who jump in at different phases of the project. We’re a hyper-focused micro-agency.
